Hi, I'm Jenny —
a mission-driven
UX Researcher

I'm a mission-driven UX Researcher and former software engineer. I use my curiousity, technical fluency, and storytelling skills to build technology that genuinely helps people.

After earning my degree in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at UC Berkeley, I started out as an Android developer at Workday, but I soon realized the part of building products I loved most was making sure they served the people who used them.

That pull toward users moved me from engineering into UX: I became a UX Technologist (bridging engineering and design), then a Product Manager, before joining Rubrik as one of its first User Researchers. Across these roles I've led mixed-methods research, including interviews, diary studies, usability testing, and journey mapping. My work has impacted product strategy and design decisions and helped launch zero-to-one initiatives in ambiguous problem spaces.

Today I use my experience of both design thinking and systems thinking to make a social impact, partnering with nonprofits and mission-driven organizations to tackle complex problems.

Current Projects: Leading a website redesign for a nonprofit supporting survivors of trafficking and abuse, and shaping early research for a reading app for young children.

How I Work

First-principles approach

I start by questioning assumptions and asking what actually matters to get to the root of a problem before jumping to solutions.

Systems thinking and building for scale

I consider the big picture and how to design for growth in the future.

Prioritizing impact

I prioritize based on what will make the biggest difference to the people the product is serving.

Human-centered design

I keep real human needs at the center of every user experience decision.
